1.0) OBJECTIVE:
To describe a procedure for the Preventive Maintenance of Screw Air Compressors.
2.0) SCOPE:
This SOP is applicable for preventive maintenance of Screw Air Compressor
3.0) RESPONSIBILITY:
Assistant Engineer/Above shall be responsible for implementation and compliance of the SOP.
4.0) ACCOUNTABILITY:
Manager – Engineering/Manager-Production/Head-QA shall be accountable for implementation and compliance of the SOP.

6.0) PROCEDURE:

- Preparation of preventive maintenance plan:
- Inform the concern person before starting preventive maintenance.
- Ensure that no activities are carried out in the respective machine.
- Ensure that the respective system electrical supply is switched “OFF”
- Before carrying out the preventive maintenance display status board as “UNDER PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE” on the electrical panel and machine.

- CHECKLIST:
- Check and tight all the exposed nut and bolts of the unit.
- Check and tight all the foundation bolts of the motor and compressor.
- Check the lubricating oil level, if required top up the oil.
- Clean the suction air filter and oil filter.
- Check the tightness of all the terminals of electrical supply , PLC, and Drive.
- Clean and inspect compressor suction and discharge valves for any leakages.
- Clean and inspect compressor pipe line for any leakages in flange gaskets.
- Check the V-belt condition and its tension.
- Check pulley locking bolts of motor and compressor.
- Check the thermostat valve for proper working.
- Check the pressure gauges for its proper working.
- Start and run the machine in Auto/ Manual mode.
- Check for any abnormal noise in the machine.
- Remove the “UNDER PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE” status board from the machine and the respective electrical panel.
- Affix the Preventive Maintenance Status on machine as per Attachment – I of SOP/EN/003
- Update the status label of the machine after the completion of preventive maintenance and assembly respectively.
- Junior Engineer/ above shall update the activity in respective format of SOP for Calibration Preventive Maintenance of Reciprocating Air Compressors (SOP/EN/024).
