Preventive maintenance of Sewage Treatment Plant

  • OBJECTIVE:

To describe a procedure for the preventive maintenance of Sewage Treatment Plant.

  • SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable for preventive maintenance of Sewage Treatment Plant

  •  RESPONSIBILITY:

      Assistant Engineer/Above shall be responsible for implementation and compliance of the SOP.

  • ACCOUNTABILITY: 

Manager-Engineering / Manager-Production / Head-QA shall be accountable for implementation and compliance the procedure mentioned in this SOP.

  • ATTACHMENT:

             Preventive maintenance checklist of Sewage Treatment Plant.                – Attachment -I

  • PROCEDURE:
    • Preparation of preventive maintenance plan:
      • Ensure that no activities are carried out in the respective machine.
      • Ensure that the respective system electrical supply is switched “OFF”
      • Before carrying out the preventive maintenance display status board as “UNDER PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE” on the electrical panel and machine.
    • FREQUENCY:
      • Quarterly

6.3.     CHECKLIST:

6.3.1    Check the electrical terminals of main supply and electrical components of machine panel.

6.3.2    Check working of dosing pumps and clean them.

6.3.3    Check blower pumps for proper working and top-up oil if required.

  • Check the condition of sludge settling filters in primary and secondary tanks. Replace if required.
  • Check any abnormal sound and overheating of motors and pumps.
  • Tighten the Flange bolts and base bolts of motors.
  • Check the motors for proper working, check bearings and change if required.
  • Check the condition of the mechanical seal/gland, replace it if found any damage.
  • Check for shafts of motor, impeller condition of pumps and observe the rotation by rotating

manually with hand, which should be balance equally while rotation.

  • Check the condition of the mechanical seal/gland, replace it if found any damage.
  • Lubricate all the parts where applicable..
  • Check the working of all valves, replace if any leakage found.
  • Clean the collection tank, if required.
  • Clean the sludge tank, if required.
  • After completion of the above procedure remove the “UNDER PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE” status board from the machine and the respective electrical panel.
  • Affix the Preventive Maintenance Status on machine as per Attachment– I of SOP/EN/003.
  • Update the status label of the machine after the completion of preventive maintenance.

6.7       Operator/Junior Engineer/ above shall record the activity in respective attachment of SOP for

Maintenance of  Sewage Treatment Plant. (SOP/EN/085).
