• OBJECTIVE:  

To describe a procedure for Backwash of Sand Filters and Carbon Filters.

•  SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable for Backwash of Sand Filters/Carbon Filters and alsoMulti Grade filters

• RESPONSIBILITY:

Assistant Engineer/Above shall be responsible for implementation and compliance of this SOP.

• ACCOUNTABILITY:

Manager – Engineering/ Manager-Production/Head-QA shall be accountable for implementation and

compliance the procedure mention in this SOP.

•    ATTACHMENT:

Backwash of Sand Filter/Carbon Filter                                                             -Attachment-I

Backwash of Multi Grade Filter/Carbon Filter                                               -Attachment-II

•    PROCEDURE:
• Make ensure that the pretreatment is in off mode.
• Put the multi-port valve handle on Backwash position.
•  Start the feed pump of filter.
•   After specified duration of 10 minutes or when the water in the drain is clear, stop the feed water  pump.
•   Put the multi-port valve handle on Rinse position.
•   Start the feed pump of filter.
•   After specified duration of 5 minutes or when the water in the drain is clear, stop the feed water pump.
•   Put the Multi-Port valve handle on service position/mode
•   Start the feed pump of filter and resume the service.
• Operator will update the same in attachments of respective SOP.
