SOP FOR TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY MONITORING

1.0       OBJECTIVE

To lay down a standard procedure to monitor the temperature and humidity of microbiology lab.

2.0       SCOPE

This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable to Microbiological section in Quality Control Department.

3.0       RESPONSIBILITY

            Microbiologist shall be responsible to follow the procedure mention in this SOP.

4.0       ACCOUNTABILITY

Department Head & QA Head shall be accountable for effective implementation and compliance of this SOP.

6.0       PROCEDURE

6.1           Precautions

6.1.1        Check and ensure that the wick is fixed on the wet bulb thermometer.

6.1.2        The cistern of the wet bulb should be filled with purified water.

6.1.3        Check and ensure that the wick is wet

6.1.4        Hygrometer should not keep under direct airflow and in front of the window where direct sunlight exposed.

6.2           Temperature monitoring

6.2.1        Enter in the respective area and ensure that cistern of the wet bulb is filled with purified water properly.

6.2.2        Check the temperature of the wet bulb and dry bulb and record the value in attachment-I

6.3           Relative humidity monitoring

6.3.1        Calculate the relative humidity by referring humidity chart.

6.3.2        Refer the difference along the top line of the chart.

6.3.3        Follow the column down until level with dry bulb reaching for percentage humidity.

6.4           Locations

  • Media preparation room
  • Incubation room
  • MLT room

6.5           Frequency

  • Temperature and RH to be taken two times (morning and evening) in a day.

6.6           Acceptance criteria:

  • Temperature: NMT 25 °C
  • Relative humidity : NMT 60 %
